mentoring for Mid-Career Professionals

Who am I?

I built my career over 22 years in the same organisation, starting as an admin assistant and eventually becoming CEO. Along the way I held board positions, led major strategy shifts, rebuilt culture, rebranded the business, navigated high-stakes legal battles, and ultimately led the company through a successful sale.

I’ve recruited and developed teams at every level, from customer service to operational boards, and carried responsibility for the organisation’s performance, resilience and shareholder value. Leadership came naturally to me in many ways, particularly in terms of strategy, communication and culture, but confidence was something I had to grow through experience, challenge and persistence.

As a woman in senior leadership, I faced more than my fair share of obstacles: dismissive attitudes, visibility barriers, inappropriate behaviour, and having to prove myself repeatedly in male-dominated spaces. I also led high-pressure situations including a four-year trademark battle against major household brands where I was the sole company witness, and which we ultimately won. Each experience strengthened my sense of self, my values and my belief in the kind of leader I wanted to be.

Mentoring women is my way of offering what I never had: a supportive, insightful partner to think with, learn from and be honest with.

I love helping women realise their potential and watching the moment when confidence clicks, when they feel they belong in their role, when they start leading from a place of self-trust rather than self-doubt.

My approach blends lived experience, leadership insight and practical frameworks. Mentees describe me as insightful, personable and supportive, and all my programmes include a structured plan to help women make meaningful, sustainable progress.

I don’t have formal qualifications just fifty years of life, motherhood, resilience, international moves, and the experience of leading a multimillion-pound business.

I’ve worked with PLC leaders, local organisations and charities, and I continue to mentor pro bono through the Cranfield Trust.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: women are already capable, sometimes they just need a calm, committed sherpa beside them while they climb. No woman should feel alone in leadership, and support shouldn’t be reserved for companies with enormous training budgets.

My focus is on helping women lead with clarity, confidence and authenticity and to find joy and self-trust in the process.

INCLUSIVITY STATEMENT

Lorrin.co.uk for all

My mentoring is centred around supporting women in management and senior roles because that’s the path I’ve lived myself and it’s where my experience adds the most relevant value.

This focus doesn’t exclude anyone.

If you don’t identify as a woman but feel aligned with my approach or the challenges I talk about, you’re welcome to reach out.

My work is about creating a safe, thoughtful space for people navigating responsibility, visibility and career progression regardless of gender identity.

I simply choose to focus on women because their experience most closely reflects my own.
